Construction characteristic

The pergola of the classical type is a construction of arches connected to each other by means of a trellised ceiling. Its main purpose is to create a partial shade, to allocate a recreation area, to support plants (roses, grapes, wisteria, honeysuckle and others).

Pergolas are made of wood, metal, plastic or stone. The traditional option, which is found most often, is considered wooden structures. Such popularity is explained by simplicity in creation and excellent appearance. A wooden structure is most suitable for wooden houses, although it is increasingly found in a variety of suburban areas. Pergolas, which consist of oak beams and columns of stone, are considered more complex types of structures. In addition, designs are classified by form:

  • with kinks;
  • arched;
  • wall;
  • rounded
  • single row;
  • fan-shaped.

Arbors are placed such as separate structures, structures with benches, a stage, a table or a swing. Very often, pergolas are set next to garden paths that lead to a flower garden or garden. Sometimes a wicket is attached to such arbors if the building serves as an integral part of the entrance ensemble.

We create metal pergolas

Making a pergola for grapes with your own hands is quite simple, if you have the necessary materials. Before the construction of such a structure should make its drawings. After that, special attention is paid to the weight of metal parts. It is very important that the elements do not look too heavy.

For the manufacture of metal pergolas from profiled pipes, crossbars, supports, stiffeners and roof beams must be cut. Pipes can be from 5 to 10-11 cm in diameter, it depends on the load and the length of the structure. Then all details must be painted, this will avoid the appearance of corrosion. For painting choose black, white or green paint. It is often painted white because it is able to visually lighten the structure and make it airy.

After that, you should dig holes (depth - 55-60 cm), and then pour a sand cushion and fill it with a concrete layer. After the concrete has dried, it is necessary to install the end of the profiled pipe on it and fill the pit to the edges with concrete mixture. In this case, it should be carefully controlled so that the supports stand horizontally. To do this, use a level or plumb line.

Top welded to the pipe supports or fasten them with bolts. They will serve as a covering of pergolas - base beams and crossbeams. Top stiffeners are welded to the supports and pipes. If there is a desire, then a metal wire with a diameter of 3-6 mm is passed between the supports. Thanks to this, climbing and climbing plants will be able to densely fill the space of the gazebo.

Wooden structures

To build a pergola from a tree is quite simple. To do this, you will need:

  • 4 bags of cement;
  • screwdriver;
  • drill;
  • shovel;
  • capacity for solution.

First you need to dig holes for the racks, the depth of the depressions is 60-65 cm. Then you need to install 4 wooden supports, the height of which is 3 m, and the cross-sectional size is 12 cm. After that, the racks are poured with concrete mortar, waiting for it to solidify, and then fall asleep and ram the earth around the poles.

The next stage is the fastening of 2 transverse beams at a height of 2-3.5 m. After that, the upper part of the structure is assembled, using the fastening of the supporting beams.

According to a previously prepared scheme, structural elements are knocked down and fastened. To do this, use screws or grooves, fixed with nails. On top of the beams install rails in increments of 10 cm and fix them with screws.

Further, the side parts are decorated with decorative panels that should not touch the ground. The final stage is the installation of elements along which plants will wander. It can be hooks, ropes, ledges or nets.

Creating a pergola as part of a house

Creating a structure adjacent to the house is very simple with a little effort and imagination. To do this, you need to attach a wooden beam to the wall of the house, the cross section of which is 150 × 50 mm. What will be the length of the beam depends on the size of the future gazebo and the width of the distance between the support posts. The fixture of the beam is performed using anchor bolts, which must be inserted every 50 cm.

In order for the roof beams to fit securely into the wall beam, rectangular cutouts should be made in certain places. There is a universal solution: use U-shaped staples. Fastening the wall beam to the upper rib is carried out with galvanized nails.

According to the previously created markup, pergola racks are installed, for this their bases are concreted in previously dug recesses. Stands are bars with a section of 150x150 mm.

The length of the roof beams is selected so that they harmoniously protrude approximately 200-250 mm beyond the outer edges of the uprights. You can make original curly bends at the ends of the beams, this will give the pergolas elegance. To add auxiliary structural strength can cross struts, which are fixed between the roof beams and racks.

Beautiful and durable pergola for grapes will be a great addition to any country house.
